Hanuman Vatika Rourkela

Hanuman Vatika, a beautifully designed garden adorned with a 75m high Lord Hanuman’s statue. Established in the year 1994, the garden is located on the ring road right next to Rourkela General Hospital in the city of Rourkela. This place is named after Asia’s largest Hanuman statue which is placed in this garden and is constructed by Sri Lakshman Swami of Hyderabad. Spread over a massive 13 acres of area, this place has various other temples which include Batta Mangala Devi, Jagannath Temple, Maa Kali, Ganesha, Sherawali, Santoshi Maa, 12 Jyotirlingas, and Lakshmi Temple. Recently, the temple of Sai Baba has added at this place that houses an image of Sai Baba which resembles the same of Shirdi Sai Baba. Besides, for public gatherings, marriages, and functions, there is a separate area called Kalyan Mandap. Because of its unique and serene setting, Hanuman Vatika has become one of the prime tourist attractions of Rourkela within a short period of time. A walk amidst the calm setting and religious vibes at this amazingly maintained place is surely a wonderful experience for anyone who chooses to visit Hanuman Vatika.

Hanuman Vatika, or the garden belonging to Hanuman, is situated in Rourkela. The garden houses the second tallest statue of Hanuman in Orissa.

The garden was renovated and inaugurated by the chief minister, the late Biju Patnaik of Orissa. The height of the statue is 75 feet. Every year on 23 February it celebrates its foundation day. Other temples inside the premises are 12 Jyotirlingas, Batta Mangala Devi, Sarala Devi Temple, Jagannath Temple, Lakshmi, and Santoshi Mata Temple. One Kalyan Mandap is built to accommodate public gatherings and functions. The Hanuman statue was built by Sri Lakshman Swami of Hyderabad. The newly established Sai Baba temple has become the favorite of the devotees, the idol of which is very similar to the idol of the one situated in Shirdi Sai Baba.

It is situated adjacent to Rourkela General Hospital. Beside the Rourkela ring road. Civil township, Rourkela 4. Just 5–6 km from Rourkela railway station. Towards south west direction.

Hanuman Vatika is a beautiful garden Temple devoted to Lord Hanuman located in Rourkela. It is spread on the Thirteen Acres of land. It has got the tallest statue of Lord Hanuman and several other temples. The Vatika is full of garden which makes the whole complex calm and relaxed. The Vatika was setup by Hanuman Vatika Trust and the initial initiative came from Sri. Dilip Roy.

Garden surrounds the statue and entrance inside is strictly prohibited.



Temples in the Vaatika:
Other temples inside the premises are 12 Jyotirlingas, Batta Mangala Devi, Sarala Devi Temple, Jagannath Temple, Lakshmi, and Santoshi Mata Temple. The newly established Sai Baba temple has become the favorite of the devotees, the idol of which is very similar to the idol of the one situated in Shirdi Sai Baba [1].

Every temple has priests, whom I have seen reading religious material, chanting and worshiping for the visitors. Security is quick enough and guides you appropriately.

Many new temples are coming up, normally a replica of the older ones. I could not see a reason why to build so many new temples. New temples are better in aesthetics. Floors are reflective. Sitting area is large and clean. It is supported by grand pillars with wall sculptures.

Often, the entrance of the temple is innovative and design includes animals. Lions on wither side is common. A big statue of Nandi is a notable attraction.

How to reach:
This place is merely 5 kilometers from the Rourkela railway station. Share auto, buses can drop you at the gate in merely 5 to 10 Rs.
