OLD CIRCULAR TOWER in Manila | Baluarte de San Diego, INTRAMUROS Manila
Old Defensive Wall in Manila Philipines. The Baluarte de San Diego is a bastion in Intramuros, part of the Spanish colonial fortification in the walled city of Manila in the Philippines. Resembling the shape of an ace of spades, Baluarte de San Diego was constructed out of a circular tower that was originally meant to protect Manila from the enemies during the Spanish occupation. The Baluarte Was Breached By British Forces With Cannon Fire In 1762. Restored And Strengthened After The British Occupation But Was Damaged During The 1863 Earthquake. It Was Destroyed During The Battle Of Manila In 1945. Restoration Began In 1979 And Was Completed In 1992. The Baluarte was restored by the Intramuros Administration, while the ruins of Torre de Guia were excavated and stabilized, exposing it for the first time after being hidden for decades.
