Welcome to Episode 1 of my new interview series “Between two Wheels”, where I interview female mountain bikers and people supporting female mountain biking all across the US and abroad.

The purpose of this series is to showcase the diverse community of female bikers out there and to get to know the individual rider better. I’m hoping that by showing my audience that there’s such a wide variety of backgrounds and skill levels among the awesome ladies I’ll be interviewing, more women of all ages will be inspired to hop on a mountain bike and give it a try!

My very first guest is Josie Smith from Decorah, Iowa. Josie works at Decorah Bicycles along with her husband Travis. She also has a fascinating blog called “Josie’s Bike Life”, where she documents her progression on a mountain bike and features various trails that she’s ridden. One of the reasons why I like her blog so much is that she’s very open, honest, and vulnerable in what she writes and she really wants to share her personal experiences with the community and get other women excited about mountain biking too. Her blog also features interviews she did with various female mountain bikers from the community, called the “Women on Bikes” series. In addition to her blog, Josie also created “Fearless Women of Dirt”, a mountain biking group for women that started out locally in Decorah, but that now has various chapters across several states.
