Honda FREED 2024 - JDM minivan

This is the GT, the third generation of Honda’s FREED Minivan/ Muti-Purpose Vehicle, since the FREED was first launched in 2008.

New for this generation of FREED is that it comes in two distinct flavors of design and style, the Air and the Crosstar.

Air
The Air is styled as the family City transport and is available as a 6-seat three row or even a 7-seat three row version in the EX version. In the 6-(captains chairs)-seat configuration, Honda have added extra room between the chairs. This means you can now pass through from the rear to the front of the this Freed, without getting outside of the vehicle, a great feature in rainy weather. The Air is available in front or 4-wheel drive with either a 1.5 Hybrid with 2 electric motors or just the 1.5 engine.

Crosstar
The Crosstar is styled as the outdoor or active lifestyle version of the FREED. Again, it is available in a three row 6-(captain)-seats but also as a two row 5-seat version. This gives more room in the rear cargo area to go camping, either outside or even sitting in the vehicle. As with the Air, you can get the Crosstar in either front wheel drive or 4-wheel drive with a 1.5 Hybrid with 2 electric motors or just the 1.5 engine.

Other versions
There are two other versions of the Freed, aimed at the mobility market. One version is called the Slope and has a rear ramp that you can use to load a camp trailer or even a person in a wheelchair. The other version has a swing out front passenger seat to enable a person to get into the vehicle with minimal assistance.

The GT was premiered in May 2024, with the tag line “bring back smiles to peoples lives”, and it is only on sale in Japan, though it could eventually be available in other markets in Asia.
