URAC's latest revision to the Specialty Pharmacy & Mail Service Pharmacy standards includes that of Consumer Protection and Empowerment (CPE) 1-1, Privacy and Security of Consumer Health Information.

IHS CEO Dr. Tom Goddard speaks of how this standard is somewhat of a "mini-HIPAA", and strongly resembles PHARM Core 16. It centers around the obligations your organization has, regarding privacy and confidentiality of consumer/patient healthcare information.

Dr. Goddard explains that you'll need to submit a few different types of documents to URAC that identify the way individuals and entities have access to protected health information (PHI). You'll also need to address how PHI and (individually identifiable health information) IIHI are protected when individuals or entities are in the vicinity of consumer health information.
