I have been chomping at the bit to play with this lens from the minute Sigma announced it. The 135mm is an incredible and often underutilized focal length that gives you compression and a very shallow depth of field—the best of both worlds.

It is an all-purpose lens, but I recommend using the 135mm for mid shots. While we might use an 85mm for portraits, the Sigma 135mm adds more compression to the shot, and at f1.8, it’s one of the fastest in its class.
