"Lion Girl (ライオンガール)", 2004.
Nude Air formed in 2001. In September of 2002, the group released its first demo, which was self-titled, and later released their first mini-album, "Fly Butterfly ~Hadaka no Kanjou ga Aya wo Matotte Afuredasu~ (裸の感情が彩をまとって溢れだす)", in February of 2003. The album had surprisingly strong sales in the underground music scene and in August of 2003, Nude Air released their first single "Cherry na Zakuro (チェリーなザクロ)", which would have incredibly poor sales with copies being scarce to find today as a result. The group pushed onward, however, and later released their second single in December of 2003, "A Day/Voice", which was live-distributed only. In December of 2004, Nude Air released their second mini-album "Lion Girl (ライオンガール)" which had better sales than "Cherry na Zakuro", but failed to have nearly as strong of sales as "Fly Butterfly". In October of 2005, Nude Air released their third single "Bye-Baby-Bye", and also appeared on the "Morph no Suki na Kyoku 02 (Morphの好きな曲02)" omnibus in January of 2006. The single had horrendous sales, however, and on top of that, guitarist Tsugu left in March of 2006. He was soon replaced by Su-san and in January of 2007, Nude Air released their third mini-album "Pray 4 Rockets", which would have extremely strong sales, becoming their best-selling release in 4 years. Despite the group's sudden resurgence in popularity thanks to "Pray 4 Rockets", Nude Air would end up going on a sudden hiatus in June of 2007, but returned after a few months. Following their return, however, the group would noticeably begin to slow down activities, only playing a few lives throughout 2008 and 2009, before dissolving again in the fall of 2009, this time for good as they have not returned. After Nude Air's dissolvement, all of the members of the group then appeared to have retired from the underground music scene. In late 2013, drummer Satom returned when his first group, the popular visual group Illumina, reunited for the first time in over a decade. He remained active in the group until its second split in October of 2018 and afterwards, Satom then returned to his respective retirement. In 2024, Illumina reunited again and Satom returned from his retirement to rejoin the group, and he remains somewhat active in Illumina today.
