News Update 4 - March 2022

Welcome to our latest news update video, this time a special on the final phases of the restoration of Hunslet 705 "Elin".

Not steamed in well over 20 years this 2-foot gauge engine was built for, and spent her entire working career, at the Penryhn slate quarry in North Wales.

Elin has an unusual appearance compared to the other similar quarry Hunslets built and used in the Dinowic, Penrhyn, and Pen yr Orsedd quarries. This is due to a quarry boiler replacement during her working life, a direct replacement from Hunslet was not available and a boiler built as a portable was used instead, along with a new saddletank to suit.
