Robots are machines that resemble living beings.

Some robots are tiny and can fit in the palm of your hand, while others are big and bulky. Though the robots come in many different shapes and sizes they have four primary things in common.

1. Mechanical Parts. It includes motors, gears, cables, wheels, and other structural elements like frames and joints. They give a robot its structure and ability to move.

2. Sensors: It includes cameras, microphones, touch pads and GPS. These sensors mimic the human senses like sight, touch, and hearing, providing vital inputs to the robot.

3. Power Supply: Most robots are powered by batteries, which provide the electricity needed to run the motors, sensors, and other electronic components.

4. Controller: This is the brain of the robot. All the sensors and moving mechanical parts are connected to the controller. It processes data received from the sensors to control the robot's mechanical parts based on what the robot is designed to do.

We are fascinated by robots because it can mimic life but if you think about it, robotics is after all, about us. It is the discipline of emulating our lives, wondering how we work.

Whether robots are helping us explore distant planets, assisting in surgeries, or simplifying daily tasks, there will always be profound satisfaction in knowing that we, too, have created something in our image.
