Fully synthetic oligonucleotides are critical in nearly all disciplines of modern biology and precision medicine. Synthetic Biology, cell-free DNA (cfDNA) diagnostics, mRNA vaccines, interference RNA cancer therapeutics, self-amplifying saRNA. Access to abundant, high quality synthetic DNA and RNA at gram scales overnight could be a game changer for the future of healthcare and personalized medicine 1) reducing the time for the discovery of safe and effective biologics, 2) significantly increasing the clinical Phase I pipeline success and 3) reaching profitability years in advanced to recover R&D costs.

Typical commercial offerings for 500 ng of a single lyophilized gene take from 5 to 15 business days and cost over $2500 to produce. For even partial combinatorial libraries of mRNA biologics this process can become time consuming and prohibitable expensive. We will discuss how the use of nano-structured ceramic films enables the synthesis of hundreds of DNA genes in gram quantities overnight. Furthermore, we will describe how these nano-structured ceramics can be manufactured without the use of expensive, currently highly backlogged, nanofabs through the use of conventional physical and chemical means.
