Section 27 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, deals with the medical examination of a child who has been a victim of a sexual offense under the Act. The key provisions of this section are:

Female Doctor for a Girl Child: If the victim is a girl child, the medical examination must be conducted by a woman doctor. This provision aims to protect the girl child from embarrassment and ensure she is comfortable during the process.
Presence of a Trusted Person: The medical examination must be conducted in the presence of the child's parent or any other person in whom the child places trust or confidence.
Nominated Woman: If the parent or trusted person cannot be present for any reason, the medical examination must be conducted in the presence of a woman nominated by the head of the medical institution.
