Prof. Venkatraman Ramakrishnan, popularly known as Prof. Venki, is an internationally renowned structural biologist who made vast contributions in chemistry alongside path breaking work on 30 S ribosomal structures. In 2009, Professor Ramakrishnan was honoured with the Nobel Prize for Chemistry. He was also conferred the Padma Vibhushan in the year 2010.
