I have to wonder how often Simon would be used if he was the ONLY Belmont in the game. He seems to be overshadowed by his descendant and echo Richter a lot just because he isn't as pretty as him.

I already tried to record myself beating his run before this video, but I did quite hit the 9.9 finish I was aiming for, and I didn't use any Classic Tickets for that.

Simon's Classic Mode run is called "Smash-vania", named right after his series. Most of his opponents in this run are meant to reference monsters and other dark beings that he, his Belmont clan, and any of their allied families can potentially face throughout the Castlevania franchise. All of the stages used in this run also have a dark and/or gothic design to them.

In Round 1, Simon faces King K. Rool and a gray Incineroar.

In Round 2, Simon faces Dark Pit and Bayonetta.

In Round 3, Simon faces a giant Ridley.

In Round 4, Simon faces a blue Charizard and a green King Dedede.

In Round 5, Simon fights Bowser, Mewtwo, and Ganondorf. These three don't seem to reference anything Castlevania-related, but are just here because they're villains (slightly complicated in Mewtwo's case).

In Round 6, Simon fights his own descendant and Echo, Richter. This references a plot point in Symphony of the Night, where Richter gets brainwashed by Shaft sometime after he defeated Dracula in Rondo of Blood.

In the Final Round, Simon must (who else but?) Count Dracula, himself. If you know anything about Castlevania and fighting Dracula, then you know that the only way to damage him is to whip him right in his face! Of course, he still enjoys dramatically teleporting around his room and summoning fireballs from his cape, but he has more moves than just that.

Just when you think you've beaten him, though, it's not over yet! He then changes into his monster form from Rondo of Blood! The bad news is that his moves are more powerful and dangerous, but the good news is that you can now hit him from any angle!

If you can Dracula at that point, you'll complete Simon's run through Classic Mode! Sadly, this doesn't get finished with a red orb falling from the sky to refill Simon's health, though, but at least that's one of his victory poses in a multiplayer match.

It's quite predictable that both Simon and Richter Belmont will face Dracula as their Classic Mode final boss, but there are other characters besides them that can face the God of Malice this way, as well!
