We Should Build Mandolins

Описание к видео We Should Build Mandolins

We Should Build Mandolins is the story of Tom Ellis, Austin, Texas' master mandolin builder and inlay master. After successfully building some of the world's finest mandolins from 1970s to the early 1990s, Ellis quit building instruments to run a successful company (Precision Pearl Inlay) that built parts for many other guitar and mandolin manufacturers.

In this new Fretboard Journal documentary, we go behind-the-scenes at Ellis' Austin workshop and hear the unlikely story of how he got back into building again, thanks to the help of a new employee. Filmed by Matt Miles and Lindsay Marie Stewart of Approach Media exclusively for the Fretboard Journal. Every month, we unveil a new short documentary featuring the world of music, lutherie and guitars.
