Today, the fauna conservation team of Kadoorie Farm is teaming up with the Acrigultural and fisheries department and heading into the forest to seek out the native Golden coin turtle. This freshwater turtle been driven almost to extinction aside from the Hong Kong area due to the belief that it is lucky, and their market price is extremely high. The team tries to make the streams a safe habitat protected from poachers, by removing traps whilst also helping to start a breeding program to prevent extinction. Nearby, the same team is also dealing with an invasive turtle species, the red eared slider. These turtles from North America are posing a threat to native stream life and its ecology. Additionally, David goes over shark fin poaching and how Kadoorie Farm is actively monitoring the trade as well as other wildlife trading which is often used for medicine.
