Did you know that when children die before the age of five, malnutrition is responsible 45% of the time? This percentage represents 3.1 million deaths per year.

Meet Dr Sophie Goudet who, when supported by the AXA Research Fund at the University of Loughborough, looked at and reviewed the best ways to reduce malnutrition in poor urban environments in order to understand what does and doesn’t work to support good child growth.

Focusing on studies from Peru, Bangladesh and India, her work will help governments and key stakeholders design better evidence-based interventions that take into account the specific complexity of the slums.
