Lake Fenton — Magician Bill Schulert’s goal is always the same — “create some wonder in the audience.”
The 32-year veteran of the industry seemed to achieve this at Lake Fenton High School on Saturday, March 4.
Schulert of Lake Orion performed before 325 guests in the auditorium with his assistant, Kym Dominguez, also of Lake Orion.
This event was hosted by the Lake Fenton Education Foundation. According to event chair Tom Hufton, the performance raised $1,800 for the foundation, which will fund grants for teachers, staff and programs at Lake Fenton schools. This is one of several events, which has raised approximately $70,000 over the years.
This is Schulert’s third time performing for Lake Fenton schools. His style is a callback to the golden era of magicians, and his illusions are of the “traditional” style.
“A lot of people don’t experience that nowadays,” he said. Schulert is a self-proclaimed “family magician” who also does some corporate work.
He performed eight major illusions, which included levitating his assistant, and making her disappear and reappear in several different ways. He always includes the white rabbit, and dove tricks.
He also packed as many smaller illusions into the show and used several child volunteers as well.
