The Maltese Islands of Malta and Gozo were a prominent Game of Thrones filming location in Season 1 and the stunning islands are a must visit for any GoT fan. After all Malta was the original King’s Landing, the capital of the Seven Kingdoms!

We've walked through most GoT locations in Malta, especially those very less visited places. As a GoT fan, I'm truly impressed by Malta's medieval vibe and those gorgeous ancient forts, they reminded me of so many scenes in Game of Thrones!

Here's a list of 10 gorgeous Game of Thrones film locations that you can actually travel to in Malta:

1.St. Dominic's Convent (Red Keep Garden)

2.Mdina Gate (Gate of King's Landing)

3.Mesquita Square (where Jamie Lannister and Ned Stark fought & entrace of little finger's brothel)

4.Fort Ricasoli (Gate of King's Landing)

5.Fort Saint Angelo (Red Keep Prison)

6.San Anton Palace and Gardens (Red Keep exterior)

7.Verdala Palace (Illyrio Mopatis’s mansion in Pentos, where Daenerys Targaryen met Khal Drogo before the wedding)

8.Dingli Cliffs (Where Khal Drogo fell from horse and Daenerys reborn from the flames with her baby dragons)

9.The Azure Window, Gozo (Khal Drogo and Daenerys Targaryen's Wedding)

10.Fort Manoel (where Ned Stark is beheaded )

If you want to visit these places, please be aware that:

Fort Ricasoli and Fort Manoel are permanently closed to public, but you might get to see the front gate of Fort Ricasoli if the outside fence is open.

San Anton Palace and Verdala Palace are president's residence, it's only open to public on some special occasions.

St. Dominic's Convent is a private property and it's usually closed.
