Male Sexual Assault Survivor Shares His Story for the First Time

Описание к видео Male Sexual Assault Survivor Shares His Story for the First Time

I've never spoken about this publicly in this way. I've told people, and afterward felt so ashamed because of the blame most (but not all) people put onto me that I've never been comfortable sharing it. There's a LOT more to the story--and the history of why I was in this position in the first place--that I left out. I'll share that later. But for now, let's just take a moment to recognize that IT HAPPENS TO US TOO, and it really hurts that society invalidates us as not "real men" for "letting" it happen to us.

1 in 4 free men will be sexually assaulted in their lifetime. 1 in 3 free women will be. These stats are INSANE, but what's even crazier is that male victims/survivors are rarely--almost never--part of the conversation. It's time we change that! If we include prison statistics, MORE men are sexually assaulted than women. The irony? It's mostly at the hands of MEN. This cycle of trauma and abuse will not end until we acknowledge what we as a society have been CREATING for millennia. It's time to SPEAK UP!

Clarification: The statistics that make up these could-be-but-not-quite "facts" are inconclusive and poorly done. Here's a great article that talks about it. I will preface this with: it's NOT a battle of the sexes--I'm just sick of MEN being left out of the conversation and made out to be weak by both their male counterparts, and females who subscribe to more fascist viewpoints (generally partnered with, or craving, fascist and/or Christian men). We are all worthy of respect, understanding, and love until we hurt someone so badly that it should be taken away. Being a victim of assault is not a reason to look down on someone, but as a man you're 10x more likely to be looked down upon. WAKE UP.

The people who inspired me to speak out are:

Dylan Gabriel:    / @dylangabriel13
Alexa Nikolas:    / @eatpredators   (I see now she's more of just a bully than anyone who actually wants to help people, but I still credited her because at the time of recording & posting this I didn't realize how vicious and unrighteous she was.)
