Welcome to Talk Heathen! Today you got for your heathery hosts: Jimmy JR. and Richard Gilliver!

Caller #1: Let’s say hello to Adam who calls into the hosts from England who wishes to discuss the contingency argument. examines how every being must be either necessary or contingent. Since not every being can be contingent, it follows that there must be a necessary being upon which all things depend. This being is God. Now, as our hosts point out, we don’t know a god exists so it cannot be contingent upon a God. So the universe cannot be contingent on anything. God needs to be established as true before we start assigning properties to said God as Jimmy Jr. points out. So yeah, Mr. Thomas Aquinas failed to make a convincing argument.

Caller #2: Cadence calls our hosts from the Sunshine State. He wants to talk about being relatively new to atheism and discussing how believers defend the views that they have, how we question things, and where atrocious beliefs do not necessarily make an atrocious person. You can respect a person as a person, but disrespect and outright discard terrible ideas. Also Jimmy Jr. shares a personal story and his perspectives on where that has lead to some reflections on belief.

Caller #3: They Might Be Giants! Connor from Texas (where everything is bigger) calls to discuss the possibility that hunter/gatherers may have been giants due to the demands on their bodies due to the way they lives. Yeah, I don’t know how we get to giants from here dear show watcher. Take a listen and see if you can figure it out. Also, some surprise “rock hard” facts from Kelley Laughlin.

Caller #4: Our last call comes again from Florida! Andrew wants to discuss Daoism which atheists should embrace (even though Andrew has claimed to be catholic before). Jimmy Jr brings up the problem that there is no proof that there is no universal energy that shows how we are connected to trees, the earth, or even one another. And then Richard brings up how current people espousing Daoism philosophy tend to be the Western ideals and looked at through rose-colored glasses. They also push Andrew to reconcile Daoism with his Catholic Faith.
