Strengthening of participation
Under negotiationDevelopment of alternatives:Gram sabha (Village Committee), are skeptical about the intention of the project. So the gram sabha has decided that they will oppose the project. Village people are afraid of displacement like the Subarnarekha Multipurpose Project (SMP) at Chandil [2].Do you consider this an environmental justice success? Was environmental justice served?:Not SureBriefly explain:The project officials claimed that the barrage is a zero-submerge project. So the barrage will not affect any village. They also blame local politicians who have vested interests and instigating local people [2].
Regarding Dalma sanctuary The Central Empowered Committee of the Supreme Court has directed the state government to form an elephant corridor on the left bank of Chandil canal covering 15 km. Court has also directed to develop an eco-sensitive zone in a 500 m periphery of Chandil south canal and afforestation on at least 1,800 hectares of non-forest land [3]
