1. Objectives
By the end of this assignment, students will be able to:
• Create and present a short marketing pitch for a new invention or idea.
• Demonstrate an understanding of how to tailor language to different audiences (formal
vs. informal).
• Use key concepts from the unit to explain what inspires innovation.
• Apply persuasive communication and critical thinking skills in a real-world context.
2. Task Description
Task: Prepare a 2–4 minute video presentation to “sell” your invention or innovative idea.
• Choose an invention or idea that solves a real-life problem.
• Decide whether your presentation targets venture capitalists (formal) or young
consumers (informal).
• Present the problem, explain your solution, and persuade the audience to support or buy
your idea.
• Use visual aids such as slides, posters, or product prototypes.
• Your presentation should be individual work, but you may brainstorm ideas with
classmates.
