"This is a very sad mistake. We hope the initiative of the FIFA president (Sepp Blatter) about electronic gates monitoring (meaning goal-line technology) will be supported by the football community and exclude this kind of mistake."

4. SOUNDBITE (Russian) Mykola Azarov, Ukrainian Prime Minister: ++NON-VERBATIM TRANSLATION++
"Hosting such large numbers of foreign tourists is proceeding in a very organised way without any incidents. Our people are greeting foreigners in a very hospitable and welcoming way. There haven't been any complaints. This means that organisation has been at the highest level. So guests could see that everything shown in the media was totally untrue."

STORYLINE
Ukraine's prime minister said on Wednesday that even he saw the ball cross the line.
Mykola Azarov attended the European Championship match between his country and England on Tuesday night - when Ukraine striker Marko Devic's shot appeared to cross the goal line before being cleared away by defender John Terry.
If the goal had been awarded, Ukraine would have pulled even at 1-1.
But the co-hosts instead lost 1-0, a result that eliminated the team from the tournament.
Azarov told the Associated Press in an interview on Wednesday that he saw from the stands that the ball had crossed the line, and that the referee was "bound" to see it.
He called on the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) to reach some conclusions about the incident to stop similar ones from happening in the future.
"This is a very sad mistake," he said, adding that he hoped the goal-line technology initiative supported by FIFA president Sepp Blatter "will be supported by the football community and exclude this kind of mistake."
Azarov also praised his country's success in hosting the European football championship.
"Hosting such large numbers of foreign tourists is proceeding in a very organised way without any incidents," he said.
"Our people are greeting foreigners in a very hospitable and welcoming way. There haven't been any complaints."
He also dismissed a boycott of the tournament by some Western officials as irrelevant.
Top EU officials have refused to attend Euro 2012 matches hosted in Ukraine over the jailing of Azarov's predecessor, now the country's top opposition leader Yulia Tymoshenko.
Azarov said the absence of some EU officials at the matches has not spoiled the sports celebration and made it clear that Ukraine will not be ordered around.
