Enjoy this new video, featuring a young #rabbit family!

The female digs a nesting burrow where the kittens (is what they're called) are born. She only visits the young once a day for about 5 to 10 minutes to feed them. The female, also called doe, can have up to 8 litters of kittens a year!
And she keeps them safely tucked away in the nesting burrow until they are old enough to join the other rabbits. Here they're relatively safe for predators such as foxes and birds of prey that target (young) rabbits.

Het vrouwtje graaft een nestkamer waar de jongen geboren worden. Ze komt slechts één keer per dag langs om de jongen 5 à 10 minuten te laten zogen. Het vrouwtje kan tot wel 8 worpen per jaar krijgen!
En ze houdt ze dus veilig verstopt in de ondergrondse nestkamer tot ze oud genoeg zijn om bij de groep te gaan. Ondergronds zijn ze relatief veilig voor roofdieren, zoals vos en roofvogels, die (jonge) konijnen bejagen.
