We live in a tough world. Between miscommunications, mistreatment, lack of trust, discrimination and cultural discord, prioritizing peace seemingly has less of a presence in the global society. There really is no reason for the world not to exist in some harmonious form. United Nations has reminded us all that there is some good in this world.

The International Day of Friendship was proclaimed on July 30th, 2011 by the UN General Assembly with the idea that friendship between people, countries, cultures and individuals can inspire peace efforts and build bridges between communities. “Sharing the human spirit through friendship” is the theme of World Friendship Day for 2022. Friendship is a basic tool to make the people prosperous and peaceful. This is also a key source to maintain social harmony and mildness among societies.

International Friendship Day is also intended to support the ‘Culture of Peace and Non-Violence’ for the ‘Children of the World’. Our world faces many challenges, crises such as poverty, violence and human rights abuses among many others. To confront those crises and challenges, their root causes must be addressed by promoting and defending a shared spirit of human solidarity.

In such political instability, poverty and human rights violations across the globe among backward countries, we can cordially celebrate this day by sharing positive thoughts, happiness, unity, giving good gestures to promote peace and helping each other financially or with moral support.
