In this podcast, we interviewed, Con Edison’s Chief Engineer, and Vice President of Energy and Environmental Law.

Both were asked “Where is this company going?”

Rich answers, “We are looking ahead at a significant revolution in how we use energy and I think for both me and Dan what we find interesting is how big these revolutions were in the 19th century, and how they have both lessons for the future, and also can inspire us in terms of moving forward on the clean energy revolution like we’ve done these kinds of things before we can do them again.

Dan shares, “it has all the way from the beginning and even as late as the 1950s and we were primarily in winter was our demand because of lighting then air-conditioning came in. The demand became the summer and it was a big change for us. And so you know that that was a revolution then and now we’re on the cusp of getting away from fossil in to renewables. We have a great advantage being on the seacoast to be able to plug into wind power that will be built and developed off the shore of long island.

Con Edison is celebrating its 200th anniversary, marking two centuries of powering everything New York, from the iconic city skyline and the lights of Times Square, to the to the millions of homes, restaurants, hotels, and other businesses that make New York a 24/7 global destination.
