Found in the waters of Thavnair, Gilled Topknot is one of the many ways to get Moonlight Aethersand!

Fish: Gilled Topknot
Location: Thanvair
Hole: Southern Akyaali
Size/Speed: Medium Size, Fast Speed.
Conditions: Any Time/Weather

Arrive at Southern Akyaali's waters and use the Lv 85 Teeming waters. Make sure you have collector's glove active! Moonlight Aethersand comes from a couple of fish, one of them being Gilled Topknot.

Gilled Topknot is a fast medium sized fish. While spearfishing, ONLY spear the medium sized fish. Ignore the rest to increase your time (and thus # of Topknots that can spawn) at the teeming waters. If you catch the slower medium sized fish, use Veteran Trade. This will ensure all the future medium size fish that spawn will be Gilled Topknot.

Repeat over and over until you have as many Gilled Topknots as you want. Use Aetherial Reduction to open the menu to begin aetherially reducing the Gilled Topknots. You can also right click on them to do this. They will give a varied number of Moonlight Aethersand. The higher the collectability, the more sand you're likely to get.
