Grab your favourite Christmas beverage and enjoy this all-time charming and romantic approach in Venezia Lido (LIPV) airport. Nicelli's a notorious aerodrome just at the doors of beautiful Venice City. It has quite a history: first known flight was in 1911, when Alessandro Cagno flew a biplane (French Farman II, later converted into a monoplane for military purposes) for an advertisement campaign. And then it was pretty much f***ed up by the Austrians in WWI. Fun fact: Hitler, Mussolini and D'Annunzio all went there at some point just before the 40s. But the beautiful aerodrome architecture was kept alive by the prosperous local Aeroclub, funding the reconstruction after the war and the catastrophic tornado in 1970 which devastated the runway. Today we're eager to reach the field just before Christmas and grab a drink in Piazza San Marco (extremely good rendition by XPFR developers: chapeau).
