From Roman high society to country life in South Tyrol. During tbe course of a road trip from Rome to Milan, the Barbinis decided to change their lives. They wanted to escape the stress of city life, and spend more time with the family. So these “dropouts” gave up their jobs at a major fashion company in Rome, and moved with their three children into a former hunting lodge dating from the sixteenth century and situated on a remote mountainside at the entrance of Val Badia/Gadertal Valley. They had originally bought the farm as a holiday home. Now, they’ve had it rebuilt and it’s become a paragon. For the Barbinis, South Tyrol means slowing down.

Located at an altitude of 1,200 meters, Giorgia and Stefano Barbini feel close to nature and in harmony with their lives. Giorgia plows the vegetable garden, Stefano has learned how to chop wood and mows the lawns and the children attend the German school in the village. “We're farmer light,” Stefano Barbini likes to say. “Before, I saw my children maybe once a week. Now I eat with them every day at noon.” A life change, from which the Barbini family has now developed an exclusive business model: at their stately San Lorenzo Mountain Lodge, guests can experience and share in South Tyrol’s country life.
