Texas Hold'em Strategy #1: Be Positionally Aware:

Position dictates which hands you can play. Understanding how one's hand strength changes by the position of all the players involved is crucial for success. The closer you are to the button the more hands you can afford to play.

Be very cautious from early position, and play no more than 10% of hands.

Texas Hold'em Strategy #2: Preflop Fundamentals

If you're going to play a hand, come in for a raise. Raising preflop gives you two chances to win the pot: either if everyone folds or post flop when you make a continuation bet.

Avoid limping when you are the first player to enter the pot.

If you have a premium hand (or a hand that is likely to be stronger than your opponents), consider making a reraise (3-bet) preflop to isolate your opponent and build a pot.

Texas Hold'em Strategy #3: Play the Player

Each player approaches the game in a different way. Instead of playing your own two cards, aim to determine which level your opponent is on. Then, play one level higher than him.

In short, create a unique strategy for each and every opponent you face.

Texas Hold'em Strategy #4: Be Aggressive With Your Strong Hands

Too many beginning players like to slow play and wait for the perfect spot to put their money in the pot. Instead, be aggressive when you have a premium hand. Put in a raise to charge your opponents to draw out on you and value from worse hands.

Remember, you win money in poker by building a pot when you are likely to have the best hand. This means you'll need to be the one putting in the raise.

Texas Hold'em Strategy #5: Develop an Overall Game Plan

A great next step to help you improve on your poker journey is to think about how you will react on future street BEFORE making any bets. This way, you'll be one step ahead of the competition and can anticipate their next move.
