Driver runs red light, causes serious crash in Vancouver, kills self, police say

About 10 people were taken to hospitals Wednesday evening after a driver ran through a red light and hit several other vehicles on Mill Plain Boulevard, Vancouver police said.

Police said the driver ran from the scene toward a nearby apartment complex where officers later found him dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound inside a unit. Police said the driver lived in the unit.

The crash, which happened around 5:15 p.m., shut down Mill Plain in both directions between 160th and 164th avenues. The road was reopened after several hours.
