Heather Hudson is a fantastical artist based in the US. She uses traditional media to create artwork inspired by folklore and fairy tales. She likes making art that tells stories, and drawing mostly amiable monsters. Heather entered university as an English major and segued into theater studies, eventually completing requirements for an MFA in Design for the Theatre with a costuming emphasis. Through her personal interests in fantasy painting and small press comics, she became part of the Seattle geek-artist community in 90’s, which led to a decade or so as part of the Magic; the Gathering freelance artist pool, and to working on collectible card games and game art in general. For some years her black and white interior illustration was also a part of the tabletop RPG “Delta Green,” which means that occasionally someone googling for her fairy art will find some rather dark Lovecraftian horror as well. The last few years have seen Heather move towards predominantly personal artwork, creating images that combine elements of traditional fantasy narratives and vision quests. With designer Daniel Gelon, and Kickstarter funding, she has published original Xmas cards and gift wrap inspired by Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Mythos, the Krampus of German folklore, and other weird subjects. She is currently working on a fantastical tarot deck for US Games Systems which she hopes to complete some day quite soon.
