On the streets of Helsinki, Finland, today with the '7Artisans 18mm f/6.3 Mark II for APS-C' Pancake Lens. This cheap lens really gives you the feeling of creative freedom via its limitations. It’s lack of autofocus and set aperture at 6.8 really makes it feel like you have turned your thousand (plus) dollar digital camera into a point-and-shoot disposable camera.

As terrible as that may sound, there’s a lot of fun to be had in it. It’s a great little tool to get out of your usual rhythms and comforts. Welcome the happy accidents - the out of focus shots, the lack of any decent bokeh, and the heavy vignette… It’s almost the antithesis of most modern-day street photography, and that’s the whole point.

I’m not certain this lens has a huge use in professional use (as expected at that price) but it sure does have a lot of character. And it’s fun. Which some days, is the whole point.
