The South Korean content industry posted an on-year increase in sales in the first half of this year.
According to the Korea Creative Content Agency, sales of South Korean movies, games, webtoons and other content rose 7 percent from a year earlier to 66-point-9 trillion Korean won or around 51 billion U.S. dollars.
By sector, sales of movies saw the biggest rise of 58 percent with the end of social distancing, followed by music and cartoons.
The surge in movie sales was led by hit films like "The Roundup" and “The Witch."
Movie sales, however, are still not back to where they were before the pandemic.
Meanwhile, exports in the content industry rose by half a percent to almost 5-point-5 billion dollars.
