BRISBANE ABANDONED GOLD MINES

Описание к видео BRISBANE ABANDONED GOLD MINES

A recent trip to the D'Aguilar Brisbane Ranges to search for some long abandoned Gold Mines. The Brisbane Ranges are home to 6 small Gold Fields that date back as early as 1867, only a few years after QLD became independent from NSW. These QLD Goldfields are named Cedar Creek, Perseverance, Mountain Camp, Brookfield, Enoggera Creek and Mount Coot-Tha. On this trip we visited two of these locations, one of which still had two small adits still very well preserved.
At the time these fields were formed, the QLD Govt was paying large incentives for anyone that could find and provide proof of mineable Gold as our QLD economy was under financial pressures. When the Second World War began mining in Australia was prohibited and several of these locations where used as munitions storage facilities.
An important note regarding this episode, several of these mines fore mentioned are now on private property, so any attempt to access them could constitute trespass. Before exploring anywhere, always check your cadastre.
QAM does not advise entering old mine workings without the correct training, equipment and safety plans. It's our understanding that the current laws also prohibit prospecting within the boundaries of the State Parks.
We hope you enjoy this explore and the sharing of some of QLD mining history with you.
