Prof. Giovanni Aloi will lead a conversation on nature and ecology in Italian arts, with guest speaker Andreco, internationally renowned Italian artist.

Andrea Conte (Rome, 1978) director at Andreco Studio, works between art, science and environmental, social and climatic justice related themes. Andrea Conte is a visual artist and also an environmental engineer PhD specialize in sustainability and resources management in different climate conditions, he did Post. Doc researches on green technologies and Nature Based Solutions for urban sustainability collaborating with the School of Engineering and Architecture of the University of Bologna and the Columbia University of New York City. His artistic research is focused on the relation between the humans and the ecosystem and between the built environment and the landscape. Since 2000 Andrea Conte is researching between science, ecology, activism, urbanism, anthropology, philosophy, biology and symbolism, on the base of this transdisciplinary researches he creates a conceptual and visual language. Climate Art Project is one of his main projects about Art and Climate Actions. FLUMEN, is his project related to the rivers and the wetlands conservation and environmental advocacy. Conte uses many techniques to represent his art, from public installations to videos, performances or wall paintings, drawings and storytelling. Andrea Conte, as Andreco Studio, worked for international festivals, museums and galleries. He won the special price of the “Talent Prize 2017” at Macro Museum of Contemporary art of Rome, 2016, the international price for rural regeneration Jazzi, Selected Artist for the Gran Tour d’Italie of the Ministry of Culture MIBAC 2019, Selected for the Italian Oscar prize for the environmental communication 2019 related to Climate Change.

Prof. Giovanni Aloi is an author, educator, and curator specializing in the representation of nature in art. He has published with Columbia University Press, Phaidon, MIT, Laurence King, and Prestel. He has contributed to BBC radio programs, worked at Whitechapel Art Gallery and Tate Galleries in London, is USA correspondent for Esse Magazine, and a regular public speaker at the Art Institute of Chicago. Aloi has curated exhibitions in the US and Europe. He currently teaches modern and contemporary art at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Sotheby’s Institute of Art New York and London.
