In statistics, we typically do not know the characteristics of the population we study. We may not even know the size and frame of the population. But we can still use sampling to learn about the population by collecting data on a sample and using it to estimate the population parameters. Dr. Daniel provides a huge dataset from a hospital ICU and shows two new ways to sample the mean and SD of a small sample.
