NYC mayoral candidate and City Comptroller Brad Lander was arrested inside Manhattan immigration court on Tuesday as he walked a man out of a hearing after a judge ruled his case dismissed, witnesses and officials said.

1010 WINS reporter Mack Rosenberg was on the scene and described the arrest, depicted in video obtained by the AP. Lander and the man he was escorting were swarmed by officers as they exited the courtroom, at which point he asks if the federal officers have a judicial warrant. A scuffle ensues, with Lander stating that “You don’t have the authority to arrest U.S. citizens asking for a judicial warrant,” as he was led away down a hallway and into an elevator.

Gov. Kathy Hochul referred to the arrest as "bullsh*t" on social media, and arrived at the courthouse later that afternoon to give remarks and condemn the arrest. During her comments, the governor said that all charges against Lander were dropped.

According to the Department of Justice, Lander's actions are still under investigation. The Department of Homeland Security said that Lander was originally arrested for assaulting a law enforcement officer and impeding a federal officer.
