The discussion was on the IT Act, its basic provisions, what changes can be made in the Act. Karnika Seth, Cyber Law Expert was invited to share information on the Information Technology Act. Karnika Seth discussed the various uses of the Technology like chatting, online shopping; people use calculators on their phones, currency conversion. Internet has become a convergence of digital technologies. Internet is widely accessed and people use internet to get information on something related to law, education, women rights, rights of children etc. Use of internet is there in all the sectors. She also added that netizens must also be aware of their responsibility and duties along with their rights. With freedom, there comes a responsibility and duty towards others. The integrity, public morality, decency sovereignty of India must be respected. She also discussed the issues related to cyber security and different cyber crimes emerging like phishing attacks, smishing attacks and these crimes must be reported to the Police so that an FIR can be registered and immediate action can be taken.
