Prices of tomatoes have skyrocketed in several metro cities including Bengaluru, Kanpur, Delhi, Chennai, and Hyderabad. 1 kg of tomato was 40/kg on June 25 in retail markets. The price was literally half (Rs 20/kg) the previous day. And it doesn’t stop here.

In Kerala and Uttar Pradesh, the prices have approximately reached ₹113/kg. So, what’s the reason behind these haywire prices?
