In the jungles of Vietnam, U.S. soldiers carrying the most advanced military equipment in the world were being outgunned by a weapon with 8 moving parts, built by a man who wanted to design a grain harvester. This is the story of how the Kalashnikov changed American military doctrine, infantry tactics, and the rifles soldiers carry to this day.
From the Ia Drang Valley in 1965 to the mountains of Afghanistan, the AK-47 was everywhere the U.S. military went. And slowly, reluctantly the Pentagon started listening to what it was saying.
