CTA Blue Line - 5000-Series Announcements From Racine to Jefferson Park

Описание к видео CTA Blue Line - 5000-Series Announcements From Racine to Jefferson Park

Since CTA Amir deleted his channel, I decided to pretty much create an announcement program video of the 5000-series on the Blue Line from Racine to Jefferson Park in order to make up for the lost videos he had.

Note that this announcement program does not include UIC-Halsted.

In 1958, the Chicago Transit Authority established the North-Northwest Line, which connected between the Milwaukee Branch as well as two branches: the pre-existing Douglas Branch and the then-new Congress Branch. The North-Northwest Line operated under A/B skip-stop service between Racine and Jefferson Park, where 'A' trains made stops along the Congress Branch, and 'B' trains made stops along the Douglas Branch.

Skip-stop service discontinued in 1993 when colored lines were introduced into the 'L' system. The North-Northwest Line became known as the Blue Line. The Blue Line served between the two branches and O'Hare (which was extended from Jefferson Park in 1984) until 2008, when Pink Line service took over the Douglas Branch between 54th/Cermak and the Loop. The Blue Line only runs between the Congress Branch (Forest Park) and O'Hare.

Today, some eight-car 5000-series trains are dispatched from the 54th yard (normally used by Pink Line) along the Douglas Branch to the Loomis Ramp in order to meet demand between Racine and Jefferson Park that would require more trains than the Congress Branch can handle due to their lack of traction power and bad track conditions.

Without further ado, enjoy foaming over this announcement program.
