Federal Minister for Finance Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb chaired the inaugural meeting of the 11th National Finance Commission (NFC) today at the Finance Division.

Chief Ministers and NFC Members from Sindh, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan attended, along with provincial finance ministers, finance secretaries and other senior officials.

The Finance Minister welcomed the participants and underscored the constitutional importance of the NFC, reaffirming the Federal Government’s commitment to transparent, sincere and collaborative dialogue with all provinces. He appreciated provincial cooperation on the National Fiscal Pact and their efforts in achieving mandatory fiscal surpluses to support Pakistan’s IMF programme.

The provincial leadership echoed the need for consensus, equitable resource distribution and a strengthened federation:

Sindh CM thanked the Federal Government for convening the meeting and emphasized the need to adhere to the NFC mandate.

KP CM highlighted the sacrifices of the people of KP and stressed updating the province’s share by fully incorporating the Newly Merged Districts.

Punjab Finance Minister reaffirmed the need for policy consistency and joint effort to build consensus.

Balochistan Finance Minister reiterated the province’s longstanding commitment to cooperation and strengthening the Federation.

All provinces and the Federal Government presented their fiscal positions, contributing to a shared understanding of economic challenges and priorities. The Commission also agreed on future timelines and the formation of technical sub-groups.

A special sub-group on the Newly Merged Districts (FATA) will submit recommendations by mid-January 2026.

The meeting concluded with a reaffirmed commitment to continue the 11th NFC process with professionalism, transparency and mutual respect, aimed at delivering an equitable and sustainable NFC Award for the people of Pakistan.
