If you're working with anamorphic footage and want to desqueeze it properly, this video is for you. It’s the method for desqueezing anamorphic footage that works on all major softwares like Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere, although I think Davinci Resolve is a bit different. I’m going to break down the process of desqueezing your footage the right way, especially if you're using a 1.3x or 1.6x anamorphic lens, but the same equations apply whether you have a 1.8x squeeze and on. There's a lot of confusion about this topic and I went ahead to explain WHY we’re doing the steps in the video towards the end, so stick around for the whole thing.

If you’re wondering what the lens was that I used for all the B-roll footage, it was the 1.6x Siriu Saturn Anamorphic. So the examples where we’re desqueezing 1.3x footage, it’s unfortunately 1.6x footage, but the same equations apply.
