Thromboangiitis obliterans /Buerger's disease : Etiology, Clinical Findings, Diagnosis & Treatment

Thromboangiitis obliterans (TAO), also known as Buerger's disease, is a rare disease that causes inflammation and thrombosis of small and medium arteries and veins in the hands and feet. This inflammation and thrombosis can lead to blood vessel constriction or blockage, which reduces blood flow to the affected areas.

Symptoms include:
--------------------------------
Fingers or toes that appear pale, red, or bluish
Cold hands or feet
Pain in the hands and feet that may feel like burning or tingling
Pain in the legs, ankles, or feet when walking
Skin changes or small painful sores on the fingers or toes
TAO almost always affects men between the ages of 20 and 40 who have a history of smoking or chewing tobacco. However, there are reports of increasing prevalence in females, possibly due to the increasing use of cigarettes among females
