There are benefits and disadvantages to being on private well water. One of the disadvantages is that your water is not tested for you or monitored for you on a regular basis. It is up to you to test and monitor your well water at least once per year.

A proper well test is done by an independent, certified lab. It should go without saying, but DO NOT get your water tested by a water treatment company, water filtration manufacturer, door-to-door salesman, or water dealer. You are just asking for improper or biased results in order to sell a product. Do not do it.
