Hot Start Cessna 310

In this video I show an effective method I use for hot starting the fuel injected continental engines installed in the Cessna 310.

This procedure is very close to that recommended in the POH.

The POH suggests cranking the engine and then putting the boost pump on high with the mixture rich and throttle cracked. I have found that while this works at times it is prone to firing right away and then dying before the boost pump has time to be affective.

A much more reliable option is to give a three second burst on the boost pump prior to cranking. This gets more of the vapor lock out of the injector lines and then using the boost pump after starting to crank will keep the engine running.
