Bob counts down his favorite ten features on Panasonic's bestseller in the Toughbook CF-31. Starting with number ten, which is the handle on this unit. The handle makes carrying this laptop around so much easier. Feature nine is that the unit has a spot for an additional battery. A single battery would last about three to four hours, but with the second battery, you would get an extra two to three hours. The eighth best feature of the CF-31 is that the touchscreen is very durable. Before the CF-31, CF-29s, and CF-30s were known for needing their screens replaced. The seventh feature on this list is that the CF-31 still comes with a serial port for legacy equipment. Feature six on this list is daylight readability on the CF-31. With a 1200 NIT screen, you are able to go outside and use a CF-31 in broad daylight. Closing out the top five best features of the CF-31 is the keyboard. There are three keyboard options when it comes to ordering a CF-31, there is the standard chiclet keyboard, the backlit chiclet keyboard, and a rubber backlit keyboard. The backlit offers more than just light for the keys, it has some extra protection with some plastic bridges on the keys to help prevent things from getting under the keys. The rubber keyboard is not ideal for typing but it is ideal for anyone that would constantly be in a wet environment. The fourth best feature of this unit is that the USB ports are replaceable. Closing the top three best features of the CF-31 is that it is able to use legacy batteries from the CF-29 and the CF-30. So, if you happen to have any extra CF-29 or CF-30 batteries laying around, just know that they can work in your CF-31. The second best feature of the CF-31 is that it can use the same docking stations as the CF-29 and CF-30. So, if you are operating with one of these older units, it's safe to say that if you decide to upgrade, you don't have to upgrade a docking station along with the new unit. That being said, the overall best feature of the CF-31 is how upgradable it is. There can be a webcam added, 4G LTE can be added, a second battery could be added, and a DVD reader could be added. This leads to a bonus item, with the multibay port, there is the potential for the DVD drive or the extra battery.
