Welcome to Evil Roots, a student-developed indie rail shooter by Osama Sedik and made in Unreal Engine to teach core gameplay mechanics. You'll face off against relentless zombie waves in classic lightgun fashion—right-click to shoot, left-click to reload.

While the visuals aren’t bad for a classroom project, the game is loaded with bugs. I had to play through it more than a dozen times before I could capture a full run.

Heads up if you're planning to try it—there’s no way to restart a level if you get stuck in a bug, and trust me, it’s easy to get locked in. So here's a pro tip: don’t fire your weapon until your character finishes walking and the enemies begin moving. Firing too early will break the game and freeze the action.

Despite its issues, Evil Roots is a cool look into early Unreal Engine training for students and shows the potential of what even beginner developers can build.
