Why is Ed Miliband hiding the secret energy deal he signed with China?🤔

I just asked him to publish the full text of the deal he signed with the Chinese Communist Party last year.

His response? To call it a 'wacky conspiracy theory'. So here are the facts👇🏾

In March 2025, Ed Miliband and his team visited China to "demonstrate global climate leadership".

While there, Ed signed a deal with the Chinese which will "enhance cooperation on renewables and grid modernisation".

But unlike the deals I signed with Korea, Germany, or Ireland, or the other deals Ed's Ministers have signed in office, the full text remains a secret.

When I asked why the Government hadn't published the deal, they said that doing so "would increase public knowledge about our relations" with China.

...but they also admitted that releasing it would "prejudice relations", as they agreed with the Chinese to keep the deal a secret.

Why does this matter?

Because China poses a threat to the security of our energy system.

Security agencies have warned us about the risks of Chinese hackers and chinese energy technology being used to "disrupt and destroy" our energy supply in the event of conflict.

Chinese companies will have the power to remotely maintain and control wind turbines and solar farms in the UK.

And Ed's obsession with decarbonising the grid at breakneck speed means he is entirely dependent on importing more batteries, solar panels, and cables from China.

It is beyond belief that Ed Miliband has chosen not to tell the public what he signed up to, on our behalf, in a sensitive relationship with a country that wishes us harm.

Did the deal involve commitments to not complain about Chinese slave labour being used to make solar panels?

Did it include commitments to maintain our reliance on Chinese supply chains?

Did it include commitments to share data that could be exploited to cause blackouts in Britain?

Unless Ed Miliband publishes the full text of his secret deal with China, we simply won't know.

Calling these questions a 'wacky conspiracy theory' shows a reckless disregard for accountability and our national security.

We deserve better than this.
